Background information:

Vouchsafe, conceived by a group of environmental health officers in the late eighties, was based on their own personal experience over many years in statutory enforcement and standards control.

The concept turns much of conventional thinking on its head. For the most part it has the feel of a ‘bottom-up’ arrangement drawing people, at all levels, into the control process whilst simultaneously identifying key individual responsibilities.

Vouchsafe uniquely brings together a myriad of component parts into a single entity, thus providing a workable compliance structure.

For your part, to make it work, you will need to commit the equivalent of something less than two mornings a year at each workplace for your staff to hold a formal meeting in a relaxed atmosphere. The continually updated guidance for these gatherings is straightforward and requires minimal paperwork. The outcome of a meeting is independently evaluated for any further action. Also the sessions effectively double as a routine staff training programme. In short: an effective compliance structure with update training, forming two sides of the same coin.
